FM40 I Love - I ❤️ Zara

I love Zara (in fact who doesn't?) and I have been having major withdrawal symptoms as my nearest shop in a Liverpool has been having a major refit for the last three months!!!

So Zara.Com has been having a hit or two recently, solely just for research of course. I do have issues with their quality and tend to stay away from t-shirts (in my experience don't wash great and go very large) blouses (poor seams.) On the other hand I have had other Zara pieces for years including a black boucle Chanel-esque jacket like the one above, jeans and shoes. From experience now they are the pieces I only tend to buy.  I adore the jacket above, I particularly like the length on this one as my old one is more a short boxy shape.

My favourite pair of Zara distressed jeans you may notice appear on my blog a lot and I was looking for a new similar pair, however, these grey ones caught my eye. The rear zips are very Acne like and I adored the following outfits here and here, which included grey jeans .

Zara do designer shoe homages very well and I am totally lusting after these beauties below ...... could I walk in them is another question?

All three pieces would go perfect together for a Friday night out with the girls but I can only afford one ..... Which did I pick?

The jeans .......

I had a grey jean hole in my wardrobe that needed to be filled.

P.s The other Spanish store Mango is having another 30% off weekend on Winter coats, cardigans and sweaters, here quoting code 5MNG.

  2. I fell out of love with Zara around 4 years ago. I now favour Mango :-) Not only do I prefer their clothes but when they have a sale they have a sale, unlike Zara who give a measy few pounds off!

  3. I'm not keen. A lot of stuff only goes up to a Large and wasn't happy when the seams on a top came apart after one wear and wash. x

    1. I feel the same, it's so frustrating! I've had some great pieces from Zara but their sizing seems to get smaller every year, even their shoes are narrower! My size hasn't changed, just theirs, lol! X

    2. I know size 12 is a large which is ridiculous! The seams and finishing can be really bad!!

  4. Hi Annmarie. I love The Working Girl too and tried on that BA&SH peplum top on a recent trip to Paris...let's just say it didn't look anything like that on me, she must be very petite! I also have a grey jeans-shaped hole in my wardrobe and would love to know how these fit. Did you buy your usual size or did you size down slightly? It's so hard to tell with jeans, isn't it? Many thanks, Annabel

    1. I love that top I am very tempted for over the festive period (Boxing Day lunch at in laws) was it too short, too wide? The jeans are a great fit I always get a size 10 in Zara jeans 38 and if you wish to compare I am a 28 in most other jeans. They are very skinny, feels like loads of elastic in them for a tight comfortable fit on the legs.

    2. Well, I am small but quite busty and the Semi top is quite full (the girl in the shop described it, in very charming broken English as a 'baby-doll' style) so on me it just looked a bit tent-like - all swung out from my boobs. I did try on a beautiful top called the Naomie which I think Clara wore yesterday under her Isabel Marant jacket, but they didn't have any left in my size. Am thinking of ordering it but I am so bad and I want so much stuff! Talk about champagne tastes on a beer budget! Have just ordered two very simple cream jumpers from Mango in an attempt to recreate Working Girl style on a budget! Thanks v much re. the jeans sizing info - I am usually a size 26 so will attempt the size 8.

    3. Annmarie, I just had a thought. They have this top on Asos in a light beige colour and you could order it (free p&P) and try on for size before ordering the black one from the BA&SH website? Annabel

    4. Good idea, I have spotted it on Asos but baby doll doesn't work on me either with my bust. I am going to have a good look on Ba&sh website to see if there is anything else .... Love the little rear buttons on the semi top. Yes, me too champagne taste .,,, lemo money!

  5. I was doing the grey jean trying on thing today and have been for the last few weeks. I came away with nothing. There were some that were nearly there but just a little off on the fit for me so I'm sticking to my old H&M distressed ones which I found were the most flattering after a little manic trying on session. I do like Zara and always have a look but I don't think they've had a particular strong year this year. But you never know - I might come home with something next week and I will have to eat my words!

    1. No I agree they haven't had a good year. I think about 2 years ago they had an amazing year and I purchased a lot including some great little jackets. There is always something that attracts my eye when I am in store. Good luck with your grey jean search but I love your grey H&m ones. X

  6. I got some lovely ones in Mango, very skinny but very comfortable. Now on the hunt for some black ones as they are so uncomfortable!

  7. Love your jeans, I spotted you over on Insta and the jacket is beautiful. I'm re-discovering them and loving some of the coats and jackets, although I hesitate to buy online because I'm never sure with their sizes. I miss being able to have a nose around the Liverpool and Trafford Centre stores :-) x

  8. Really like those snakeskin heels Annmarie (but wouldn't get enough wear out of them to justify - see I can do the justify thing with clothes and shoes, just not with beauty items!). Love the jeans though - very rock chick if I may say so! x

  9. Those shoes are gorgeous! Also worry I wouldn't be able to walk in them though!

  10. love that jacket but are they pushing their prices up aren't those jackets normally about £89?

    1. Yes, that use to be the norm £89 but £129 now, which is annoying especially when you go to Spain itself or any where else in Europe and see the prices in Euros, so much cheaper than £!!! x

  11. I think Mango have overtaken Zara, a little bit, but Mango delivery times are another matter. I haven't ordered anything but I am quite keen to visit the local Chester shop. I am with you on the jeans and occasional jackets. I have learned that it is better to see the items, physically, and to try on because, as I have said in the past, the Zara pattern cutters work in the dark! H x
