FM40 Style - Realisation I Need Something Else

Coat, Massimo Dutti (old) / Jumper, Pure Collection / Jeans, Zara / Boots, R&B (old) / Bag, Mulberry / Hat, PoppyLondon

Here I am the other day in my camel cashmere sweater and grey coat to match my new cream pom-pom hat, yes I have another one, I am totally in love with them. I love the colour combination of camel and grey, I feel it looks expensive, even if the pieces aren't individually. Whilst getting dressed I pondered over which footwear to wear with this outfit. My black ankle boots looked too harsh and although I finally opted for my old knee length tan Russell & Bromley boots, I would have loved some ankle boots to go with this outfit. Even though knee length boots apparently were due to make a comeback this season (I haven't seen that many fashionistas wearing them) I much prefer ankle boots.

I am sure I am not the only one who lusts after a pair of Isabel Marant Dickers, but they are a little pricey and sold out in most places, Office do a fab look alike of the Dickers by the way. As you know, I am a huge R&B fan and my zip gaucho boots (which are the most comfy boots ever) come in camel suede and also a more user-friendly and hard wearing tan leather.... another thing to add to my wish list I think.

Do you favour the ankle boot or are you a fan of the knee length boot? Do you own a pair of camel or tan boots?

As ever thank you for reading.

  1. I do own both a pair of Jigsaw knee length tan boots and some camel coloured ankle boots from Office which have done me proud for the last 2 years and I still drag them out regularly. I still prefer to wear my ankle boots as I am more a jean wearer and prefer to keep the knee high boots with midi skirts. I think if you're going to go for a camel/tan coloured boot like the Dickers - suede is the way to go. Not as hard wearing but somehow they work really well in that style (IMHO).

    1. Yes I prefer ankle boots really, I felt a little dated in my knee length with jeans tucked in. Are your office ones the courtney, Sue? I would love the suede ones, the paler colour of the suede ones I feel would go with more things. Xx

    2. Mine were the Office Namesake boots which were out in 2012. They're a little less chunky than the Courtney. And I think the Courtney came out in 2013 but under a different name but I can't remember what. I think they are recycling the style and just renaming ;o)

  3. I'm definitely an ankle boot person - I got a pair of Hudson Horrigans on amazon last year - the prices have gone down and up again since then but they are great quality. LOVE your hat - is that the one you followed someone to find out where it was from? If so, I can totally see why!

    1. Yes it is, I ran after her and since I got mine, I have also been followed and stopped to ask where I got the hat from. X

  4. I have those IM Dickers (bought A/W 12) and a black pair bought in September this year. They are expensive, yes, but they are beautifully made and go with everything – I wear them with dresses and skirts as well as jeans. They also bridge the seasons as can be worn from autumn through to late spring. My brown ones are nearly 2yrs old but are still in good nick as I have looked after them carefully. I think they are one of those purchases that it's worth saving up for.
I love the hat, by the way – have ordered a black one for my stepdaughter's Christmas present but what do you bet that it never makes it to underneath the tree?! Annabel x

    1. The Dickers are getting great reviews here in the comments. Quality is sometimes best paying for.... I bet the hat doesn't make it under the tree. X

  5. You look fab in your knee high boots Annmarie! I am definitely more of an ankle boot girl than a knee high but this Winter I seem to have lived in trainers so of your picks I would plump for the Office Courtney western boots as I'm not sure how much I would wear them but I definitely have a whole in the wardrobe for this style of boot! xx

  6. You know I haven't worn knee length boots for years! I used to have several pairs of Frye but ended up selling them (shoot me now). Last year I invested in the SW Highland and this year I have bought the Zara suede knee length boots - I love wearing them with culottes and the OTKs are great with skinnies! You look gorgeous as ever - love the hat! xx

    1. Oh and I have black and camel Dickers - I love them both - so versatile - definitely suede is best and is actually really easy to care for if you spray with water repellant. I wouldn't wear them in really wet weather anyway as they have leather soles. Definitely a boot to wear forever though xx

    2. Just before I read your comment, I have been thinking should I put my knee lengths on ebay to raise funds for the Dickers????

  7. Annemarie don't sell your tan knee highs...they are a classic and will come back in fashion especially with midi skirts and culottes becoming a trend. Keep them - you will regret getting rid of them! I warrant you this time next year - or maybe even sooner, a la Laura on WIT, we will all be in leather or pleather culottes! (I thought they were hideous till I tried on a pair of pleather ones in M&S...am seriously contemplating them although am always slow on the bandwagon with these things) I agree thought that camel or beige ankle boots are a classic. WAIT for the Jan sales. I am after the Ash Jalouse - they are on my sales wish list as I cannot justify spending too much more on myself just now, especially as I am after a jumper for xmas day (Hush black and white star or Baujken berry roll neck - or both ha ha). Oh - THANK YOU for the Poppy London tip off - my daughters have bought me the black one like yours for Xmas (well husband paid as the 12 and 14 year old thought it was too expensive for their budgets ha ha). Now you have me lusting after the cream!

    1. No Carol I am not ... Don't worry had second thoughts. Just sold my old cracked I phone 5 so I have a few pennies in the bank towards boots in the sales. I had a Navy pair of Ash jalouse boots and in a after pregnancy hormones fit sold them on eBay - huge regret there!!!

  8. I'm clearly no fashionista as I still love knee high boots, though I love ankle boots too and have many pairs. I think you look fabulous in this outfit (and these boots), you'd definiteky regret it if you sold them. Lynne x
