FM40 Style - New Ankle Boots

Jumper, Pure Collection / Jeans, Zara / Scarf, LV / Boots, Russell & Bromley

I made my first sale purchase before Christmas, you may remember this post about my need for new ankle boots in a neutral colour. I of course would have loved a pair of Dickers, but my budget didn't stretch to £360. I have Russell & Bromley's zip up gaucho boots in black and I love them, the camel suede went into their sale which started just before Christmas and thankfully I bagged Manchester store's last 37.

Then on the 30th of December, I was researching sale items for the blog and noticed on Libertys the Dickers were £205!!! Yes, £205, new stock, but sadly showing out of stock, I thought that must be a pricing error. I have since found out that they would have honoured that price if I had placed an order ........ bummer!!!

The Dickers are a cult classic, spotted on many stylish celebrities and street style icons alike.

What I love about the Dickers is the V-shaped front, which is very flattering to the leg and thus the Dickers are the best and most flattering style of ankle boots to wear with dresses, a look I adore.

Here are my favourite wannabes on the high street, including the real thing (number 5.)

Are you a fan of the neutral ankle boot?

  1. Love this type of style & colour of ankle boot Annmarie it's such a great neutral that really can be teamed with most things in your wardrobe. I just love the image of the fourth picture - such a cool understated look.

  2. Hi Annmarie, this has been on my wish list for ages, I have bought and returned - fool that I am - beige Ash Jalouse ankle boots over the past three years (twice!) because they felt a tiny bit too big. Now I wish I hadn't as they were reduced AND comfortable, despite being a bit big, AND now longer available (seems to be the Jess now?) Personally I think all the ones you have featured look pretty much the same. You have done well with your R&B ones! Thought of you today - I was in the Jaeger outlet in Portsmouth (went all the way to look for something for a function next month) and ended up buying - again - the camel coat you bought, and which I bought and returned before Xmas!!! I gave it another try on - decided I'll add belt loops so that takes care of that, and to be honest I will probably mostly wear it untied and I love how it looks untied...so the fact it is wide cut (must be to do with the drop shoulder) is no longer a bother! And yes a bit fiddly to tie up and unbunch, but hey ho for 99 quid - yes, now reduced to 99 quid - I can live with that!!! I am so happy as I am going away next month (for said function and another big party, on my own without kids or hubby to Hong Kong where I used to live for many years, yippee so excited as my best friends still live there and it is such a fun place to visit) and I was starting to think about what to take...the coat is the perfect cover up as it's cold there at this time of year and thsi is light and easy to wear and goes with everything. AND while I was in Jaeger I snaffled another bargain - a black and white houndstooth print chunky oversize roll neck jumper - 49 pounds, 1005% soft (non-scratchy!) wool. Still got the charcoal Boden one in my sights but it's gone back on at full price so I am waiting for a discount code. Surely there'll be a 30% code soon?

    1. Funny about the coat, I must say I like it undone. I am sure they will have one of their 30% codes very soon. I purchased navy jalouse when L was born and in hormonal madness - sold them on EBay - big regret now. Xx

  7. Oh that must have been a little depressing finding that you could have got the Dickers after all - I do think they are lovely and they are comfy too - I've tried some on before. Are they worth the full price - probably not but they are a such a classic and timeless design. I actually bought some New Look dupes just before Christmas for £20 just incase my Namesake boots called it a day but then I decided I was being silly and sent them back. They were brilliant for the price too. I think the best thing is to enjoy the pair you've got - they look lovely.
