FM40 Lifestyle - Easter Monday Day Out At A Local Beauty Spot

Parka, Mango / Jeans, Topshop / Bag, Russell & Bromley / Scarf, LV / Boots, Le Chameau

Easter Monday we spent at a local beauty spot the Natural Trust's pinewoods and sand dunes at Formby, which is only 10 minutes from where we live. It was pretty busy being a Bank Holiday, but still very beautiful even on a hazy, misty day like it was. You may notice I am wearing new wellies, a present of Hubby, I complained my Hunters were cold and in the future I was discussing I may need something warmer on the touchline supporting N, he said I need a pair of shooting wellies like his with warm insulated inners, which are by Le Chameau ..... This was my first time wearing them and I am very impressed, they kept my feet very warm, if they are good enough for a princess, then they should be for little old me and they certainly are.

The question as we venture down this path, is always are we going to see the rare red squirrels that live here and it was yes! A few baby ones where happily running about.

Boys, the small joys of finding a stick.

Do we go for paddle? Yes, but we are keeping our wellies on for sure!

Her face says it all, for God's sake somebody get me an ice-cream I am fed up with all this walking!

Kids Raincoats, here and here / Wellies, here

I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter weekend and how fabulous is it that spring has finally arrived for the Easter school holidays!?

  1. Lovely boots! I am envious as I do love practical footwear and was secretly rather sorry it didn't snow this year as I bought a pair of Sorel snow boots in the sales and was looking forward to smugly parading up and down in them! By the way, I received an email from Zara this morning alerting me to the fact that the broiderie anglaise top is back in stock so have hastily ordered a couple to try (wasn't sure exactly what size to get because I find Trafaluc stuff sometimes comes up smaller than the standard Zara sizing). I also tried this one in store yesterday: http://www.zara.com/uk/en/trf/tops/lace-top-with-frills-c358032p2619035.html
It's very pretty under a little jacket but the sleeves were slightly unflattering on the upper arms and I didn't like the way it went up at the back (not sure my 47-yr-old bottom needs to be the centre of attention) so followed your excellent example and resisted the temptation. I also tried on the Warehouse top you featured yesterday. It's a tricky one. Not that flattering on, as it's a bit long and straight so looks a bit sausagey, if you know what I mean. Not flattering enough to be worn on its own, but it would be a good underlayer a la Clara. But do I want to spend £32 on an underlayer given that it might be too hot to even need one until next autumn?? Ho hum, ho hum....shopping dilemmas! Axx

  2. Yes I Got my email too Annabel and was straight on there ordering. I find this range comes up small also, so I have gone for the L ?? Fingers crossed, as I am normally a M in Zara that is if it's not fitted. that top also caught my eye, but exactly like you I thought I didn't too much bum on show. I have ordered the warehouse one, the points you have raised in your review have all crossed my mind??? Three summer tops, H&m, zara and warehouse .... Do I need all 3, can't wait to receive them snd have a try on session. X

    1. So hard to tell with the Zara sizing - fingers crossed it will fit. I am trying to order the Warehouse top to try it on at home (the one in the shop had foundation stains round the neck) but am struggling with their website. Couldn't manage to get the pages to load at home last night and today am having the same problem on my super-powerful giant work computer, so it's definitely their website rather than my technology. Grrrr! They are not making it easy for me to throw money at them...perhaps I should take that as an omen?!? Axx

  6. I love Formby - you all look like such a lovely little family. Btw, your hair is gleaming - have you changed the colour? It really suits you. Think it might be time for you to do a beauty post again as you are looking so pretty!! Spill secrets please x

    1. I didn't ask for a change in colour, but I tend to leave my hair stylist to it, it is lighter I think, but I think it's just the old highlights growing out. I am planning on doing a beauty post as I haven't done one for ages and I have a tale or two to tell, with products I have been using some hits, some misses. Xx p.s thank you for the lovely comments. 8. Those wellies sound perfect, I hate my Hunters when it's it's cold, as they need liners and even then they don't really keep my feet warm! Your little ones look so cute in their matching yellow coats! Happy Easter to you too! Helen xx
