FM40 - LWD (Little White Dress)

Dress, Boden (similar here) / Jacket, Isabel Marant Etolie / Shoes, Mango / Bag, Chanel /Sunglasses, Rayban

A LWD (little white dress) is just as important as the LBD and for me a summer essential. This dress was the one I got from the Boden clearance section in January (sadly now unavailable) and I wore it on Sunday for Fathers Day lunch at hubby's golf club. Boden have done another lovely LWD (little white dress) this summer that is very pretty.

There has been one particular white dress that I have longed for,  the Isabel Marant Etoile Greta dress, from a few seasons ago. I often search for it on eBay or Vestiaire Collective with sadly no avail,  can you believe I once saw one sell for more than its original price. Then, Monday night I was catching up on my favourite blogs and Anneli posted about her new LWD ...... I died and went to heaven for a split second........ An almost identical dress to the Greta for £39 (here) you guessed it, I couldn't resist it for my holidays.

Do you own an LWD and do you like the one I have picked from BODEN and what do you think of my Izzy look alike purchase?

Let me know I love to hear your thoughts and comments.

  1. I have a LWD but sadly it's either shrunk or I've had a growth spurt and now it's too short :-(
    Yours is the ideal length

    1. I know, if I look half as good as DB I will be happy. X

  3. I am not good with white dresses - I feel a bit too obvious in them and also that I'm asking for trouble. As if I'm waiting for some food item to land down my front or for me to sit on something I shouldn't. I'm a bit of a muck tub.

You look great in your Boden one - that was a fab sale piece. I like their current one too - I just prefer longer 3/4 sleeves if I am doing this look.

    1. I normally buy high street white dresses, because of the possibility of stains, one I am clumsy and two the kids. I know chuffed with that sale buy. X

    1. I was determined to wear this one on Sunday Michelle, even though the weather wasn't glorious (it was OK), that is the thing we have maybe just a 3/4 week window to wear them. x

  5. Love a LWD, I always come a bit unstuck with the old fake tan and white dressing though?...Should do it the night before I know but it isn't till I see what the weather's doing and decide to wear a LWD that I hastily slap some on and the inevitable tell tale tan marks all over my clothes!! You look gorgeous in your Boden dress, love how you have styled it with your IM jacket too!

    1. oh I have done that with the false tan. Thank you, it got rather chilly in the afternoon so the IM jacket came in handy. x

  6. Interested to see how the dress you have ordered works out - I really the shirt button-down style. Just returned OtherStories off white dress - have the black and love it,but the off white is too yellowy cream for my liking, and also see-through - and you can see the pocket linings through the skirt of the dress, which I hate!

    1. I am interested to see what it is like to Carol. The button front is what I like, to keep a few buttons open for that slimming effect. Shame about the andOtherStories one, do they crease, Laura's Cream one looked rather creased on her Instagram.

    2. The cream one shows up the creases more than the black.

  7. My favourite LWD was one I got from George at Asda last year and it's brilliant. And because it was so cheap I don't worry about anything spilling on it although I would be sad if it got ruined. Love the way you have styled yours here with the little jacket, really nice. Lorraine x

    1. That is always a bonus, I tend to only buy hight street white dresses due to the stain issue, my favourite is an Oasis one I picked up in their sale a few years back. x

  8. I've just bought a similar shirt style white dress from Sainsburys. Featured in this weeks Sunday Express magazine. Not worn it yet but it's definitely worth a look.
