Mallorca as a summer family holiday was new to us, hubby and I had visited the wonderful city of Palma for long weekends a few times before the kids the last time being when I was 5 months pregnant with N and it was our baby moon with many happy memories.

We therefore wanted to be close to Palma so we could enjoy evenings there, so it was the south west of the Island we settled on. We search high and low for a large apartment or Villa that would accommodate us and my mum who enjoyed the first week with us and we finally settled on one in the small village of Genova.

Our days and evenings where mainly spent at the villa (apart from a few evenings outs and a few days at the beach)  as it was rather nice to enjoy!

When we did venture out, we first visited Puerto Portals which was close by. Puerto Portals if you don't know it is a smaller version of Puerto Banus in Marbella and to be honest a little plastic fantastic for my taste. However, the children enjoyed looking at the boats and we did enjoy the odd coffee at Cappuccino Grand Cafe. We ate at Flanagan's which was just OK, actually it was our least favourite meal of the holiday.

The dining experiences we did really enjoy where at one of favourites Caballito De Mar located on the Paseo de Sagrera and overlooking the gorgeous La Llotja in the old town of Plama. I would highly recommend here, but please be advised to make a reservation.

Another wonderful place we ate at was Hotel Bendinat in the Las Terrazas restaurant. Everything was just wonderful, the views, the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks below and the food and wine were just sublime.

Two other recommendations of ours are;

Koa a great pizza restaurant especially good for families (the Torino Pizza - Beef carpaccio, parmesan cheese rocket and chimchurri sauce was to die for)!

Forn  not enjoyed on this trip as we didn't think it was suitable with little ones, but Hubby and I have always enjoyed eating here on our weekend trips to Palma.

My favourite Cappuccino grand cafe is in Palma on the steps of the Cathedral, just a very classy place to enjoy a pre-dinner or after dinner glass of cava.

Love the decor and blue/white seat covers in this one - please Cappuccino Grand Cafe the red and white stripe ones outside your Puerto Portals look awful and rather more suited to a TGI Fridays.

Another nice place to enjoy a drink is Hotel Tres in the beautiful courtyard of this former 16th century Royal Palace and of course there is Abaco which you have to go in, if only to nose at the fabulous decor and fruit displays.

Us enjoying Palma nights .......
