I quoted Coco Chanel on my Instagram yesterday "Fashion passes, style remains" and that is very true.

I see Instagram is awash with lots of fast fashion, floral dresses and loud prints .... honestly you will get fed up with them .... next summer you will pull them out of your wardrobe and think ... 'what was I thinking" ..... trust me, I have made those mistakes.

M&S has you covered this summer from holidays to the office and everything in between, they have one trend that has the FM40 seal of approval ..... polka dots.

Firstly, this spotted ruffle skirt would look great with a simple tee and crisp white/cream blazer (something like this) for the office. Or with trainers and a denim jacket at the weekend. This spotted tunic dress would look amazing with either a Hermes or Gucci belt to clench it in at the waist and to totally elevate it to something special. Finally, my personal favourite, this dotted blouse makes summer denim look pretty and fresh.  I also are quite keen on this navy/gold top that has a very similar vibe to the more expensive Bea Blouse from Sezane.

Marks and Spencer tailoring is fabulous at the moment, I finally got the Balmain like jacket in black recently that I have been harping on about.

Style Tip : size down one size and I plan to swap the buttons to more expensive looking blazer buttons 😉

They have other pieces of tailoring that are perfect for the summer that will make you look polished, whether it's for the office or to wear with denim. I like this cream blazer I mentioned earlier, the pale blue Balmain style jacket and finally this navy linen blazer which would look very chic with this breton, these Chloe like jeans and these fabulous red shoes! Those red shoes would in fact look stunning with a white tie waisted full bodied dress for a summer garden party.

As you know, I am in the middle of my summer holiday capsule wardrobe series and I am yet to cover, swimwear and accessories. On the subject of swimsuits I have a few and my favourite swimsuit is in fact the cheapest one I own ..... from Marks and Spencer. If like me you have boobs and a mummy tummy that you don't like showing off then M&S secret slimming swimsuits are
A M A Z I N G and this striped swimsuit by Rosie for Autograph looks stunning.

M&S Holiday Shop is a great place to get inspiration and buy all the things you need, plus they have a few packing tips that I have just found quite useful and I consider myself a good packer.

My picks are this great classic white shirt cover up (love the ties on the sides) this striped shirt cover up and this dress that is ideal for throwing over a bikini, but also can also double up as a little dress.

If you like the style of espadrilles, but don't like the ribbon ankle ties then these espadrilles are a really good option for you. M&S accessories are very on trend this season and some will certainly add a trend driven look (and fun) to the more simple and chic holiday style I champion here on FM40. My favourites are this, this or you could stay classic with this Rea Feather style tote and I absolutely love that striped half-moon clutch above. I do love a panama hat, but sometimes I do like to go all Hollywood scarlet with a large floppy sunhat like this.

Finally, do you need a new PJ's for the summer? Well, nothing is more cool or fresher looking than white cotton and I have just purchased these ... loving the pretty vintage look of them.

This post was brought to you in collaboration with Marks and Spencer, thank you for supporting the brands I love and trust here at FM40
