FM40 STYLE | SUMMER HOLIDAY CAPSULE WARDROBE 2018 (PART 1)

S U M M E R   H O L I D A Y S

It's that time of year when again when you may be planning your summer holiday ..... I am really looking forward to summer this year as we have had, what seems like such a long winter and it's still unusually a little cold for May.

The poll was in favour of doing this series again and to be honest it's a great way I can consolidate all the beautiful things I have spotted into categories.

It's also a good way to pass on what I have learned over the years with packing a successful suitcase for your holidays.

My main tips are; keep your holiday wardrobe colour co-ordinated (I mainly keep mine monochrome with a bright accent colour such as a coral red or a bright blue), ditch the separates and opt for dresses. They are easier to wear, pack and most importantly take up less space in your case.

I personally like natural fabrics such a cotton, maybe a touch of linen and I like something that's normally loose and has a little sleeve. My perfect shape is just above the knee with no waist band. This little day dress I like to pop on over my swimsuit, have breakfast in, maybe wear to go the market and that will take me to the beach bar for lunch, so I don't like it to be too see-through.

Highlights from that edit for me are the Star Mela dresses, the Phase Eight dress is gorgeous - not a brand I look to myself as it's normally my Mum's favourite, but totally loving that dress plus it has pockets!

If you have the budget the Melissa Odabash dresses and the Loup Charmant dress are gorgeous and would be holiday staples for many years. I have noticed a few beach cover ups this year I have tie belt which are handy I suppose leave loose or tie it for a clinched in waist ..... I have just purchased a similar style tunic from Zara (this one) .... very excited for its arrival! I have big regrets not getting the eyelet shirt last year from Zara with the linen sleeves and pockets ... seen here, so I wasn't going to delay with this tunic.

Simple, throw it on job done .......

I have a few of this type of beach cover up and are just so easy to wear. Tory Burch is the master of these, but that Boden homage is pretty perfect!

One of the many ironies of life is that sometimes the best looks often come from the least effort and nothing looks better on the beach over your swimwear than a white oversized button-down shirt. It complements a tan like nobody’s business and it’s both unexpectedly sexy and surprisingly elegant-looking for the beach. It's been an elegant cover-up for years; Katharine Hepburn in Holiday, Lauren Bacall in Key Largo, Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday and of course that famous picture of the supermodels cavorting in the sand for Vogue.

I am definitely going to do this look this year and I have just ordered this shirt in white, but while running through my local M&S to the food department I spotted this one on the mannequin which looked pretty good!
